Loadsheet Computer

Airbus A318, A319, A320 and A321 mass and balance workflow

How the Loadsheet Computer takes aircraft-specific data and flight inputs through to a printed loadsheet.

Mass and balance—also called weight and balance—considers both the aircraft’s mass and how that mass is distributed. The Loadsheet Computer brings the input, review and printing steps together for configured A318, A319, A320 and A321 aircraft.

1. Start with the correct aircraft data

Select the aircraft registration and confirm that its stored profile matches the aircraft and current configuration. Aircraft-specific AHM data provides the basis for the device’s calculations. Read the configuration requirements.

2. Enter the flight, fuel and payload

Enter the flight details, crew, fuel, passengers, baggage, cargo and mail. The device provides separate input screens so the figures can be reviewed before moving on.

3. Review the weight summary

The summary presents zero-fuel, take-off and landing weights against the configured limits. When a value exceeds a limit, the device flags it for correction.

ZFW — zero-fuel weight
The weight figure before usable fuel is included.
TOW — take-off weight
The weight figure for the start of take-off, accounting for the configured fuel inputs.
LW / LAW — landing weight
The estimated weight figure at landing after the planned trip fuel use.

4. Distribute passengers and cargo

Allocate passengers to cabin zones and baggage, cargo and mail to compartments. Total weight alone is not enough: its distribution affects the centre of gravity. The device checks that the allocated totals match the inputs.

5. Check CG and trim, then print

Review the CG envelope and the calculated weight, index and trim information. The device flags out-of-limit values and prevents printing in the out-of-limit condition described in its workflow. A valid device check must still be used within the operator’s required validation and procedures.

Is this an online calculator?

No. This website describes a handheld device. Calculations run on the Loadsheet Computer, and the built-in thermal printer produces the hardcopy. The device can operate without an internet connection.
